About
My Story
Hi, I’m Philippa Dunstan, a Registered Landscape Architect with a passion for creating spaces that connect people with nature. I’ve spent years working on place-based design, which allowed me to shape public spaces that improved people’s well-being. After graduating from the University of Canberra and working with local governments, I realised my heart was in creating natural, more organic landscapes—ones that allow people to experience the wild beauty of the environment rather than forcing it into structured, pristine designs.
Now, I live on a two-acre property in the lush Northern Rivers, a far cry from my old two-bedroom apartment in Sydney. As a landscape architect here, it feels like stepping into a world of endless possibilities, yet sometimes I’m overwhelmed by perfectionism. But I’ve learned that the best approach is to plan and trust the process, embracing the messy beauty of nature.

I believe in gardens that grow with you, that embrace imperfection, and that welcome nature in all its forms. I’m here to help you move past decision paralysis and perfectionism, just as I’ve learned to do, to create gardens that feel alive, nurturing, and a little bit wild.
My Mission

Connection with Nature
Gardens that respect the natural world, creating spaces where people and the environment thrive together.

Collaboration
Working with you to turn your dream into a reality, focusing on what brings you peace and joy in your outdoor space.

Sustainability
Utilising permaculture principles and eco-friendly materials to design gardens that support biodiversity and sustainability.

Authenticity
Embracing the imperfect, the wild, and the real—both in our gardens and in ourselves.
Qualifications
I'm a Registered Landscape Architect with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Canberra, and I’ve spent over a decade designing outdoor spaces that support wellbeing, connection, and sustainability.
My background includes years working in local government on public space and community projects, and I've since built a practice that reflects my deep love for the land and its potential to nourish us.
I’ve also completed a Permaculture Design Certificate with Milkwood Permaculture, which strengthened my commitment to creating regenerative, resilient landscapes. Now based in the Northern Rivers, I focus on rural property design, schools, and community spaces—helping people grow gardens that are both beautiful and purposeful.
Experience
With over a decade of experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients—from developers and local councils to schools, early learning centres, and private homeowners.
Much of my project work to date has been based in Sydney, where I’ve delivered thoughtful, public space designs that balance community desires, creativity, and connection to the environment.
Now based in the Northern Rivers, I’m excited to bring this experience to local projects and collaborate with clients who share a passion for meaningful outdoor spaces.
